Over the last couple of weeks, we have been doing lots of exciting activities focusing on the theme of The Three Little Pigs. The children have been singing “This Little Piggy went to Market” at Rhyme Time and listening to the story and acting it out with their masks on and holding their different characters to role play the story with their friends; this enables them to be confident in front of others and retell the story, sometimes in their own way (not the actual story) 😊. We also played “Squeak Piggy Squeak”, where we hid a child under a blanket and by the sound of the child’s squeak they had to guess who it was.

The children have made some lovely handprint pictures of The Three Little Pigs, counting the feet, listening to the instructions and being creative, maintaining their focus for the activity whilst telling me all about the different animals they could find on a farm.

We also had some threading pigs, for the children to improve their hand-eye coordination, counting, taking turns and sharing with their friends. In the phonics activity some of the children were able to correctly identify the correct sounding letter of the word, by pinning the peg correctly on the card on to the correct letter.

We had houses of straw, sticks and bricks and the children had to identify which house belonged to which pig and post the correct pig through the correct door, learning about sizes and simple counting as they placed them through the door. They also had to build their own house out of straw, sticks and bricks in the tuff tray; some very interesting creations were made. 😊

We finished off the week with an amazing performance in the Church for the Nativity. Thank you so much for your support with this. We raised £279.60 for preschool so thank you to everyone that helped make this possible.

This week the children have been doing lots of Christmas crafts. They have made angels, decorated Christmas trees with icing and sprinkles, made Christmas decorations and crafts. The children listened to the story “Dear Santa” and opened presents; one of the presents was a lion. We then got the zoo animals out for the children to play with, then placed zoo animal sheets over the top of the tables to create a den for the children to play under; this was a great example of in the moment planning. We also had a ten pin bowling competition where the children had to count correctly the number of pins they knocked down. On Friday we played with Santa and his reindeers in the fake snow in the tuff tray. The children really enjoy the messy play!
