OUR CURRICULUM

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) was revised in September 2020 and became legally effective from 1st September 2021 for all providers of early years education and care.

The two distinct aims relating to these changes are:

1. To improve outcomes at age five, particularly in language and literacy;

2. A reduction in workload so that practitioners are able to spend more time interacting with the children in their care.

We understand that each child has unique needs and interests. The Goslings Preschool therefore considers the all round development of your child, providing opportunities for them to make their own decisions, to express ideas, reflect on experiences and information, to explore and make discoveries, as well as developing socially and emotionally. Once they leave The Goslings Preschool, they are fully prepared for the next stage of their young lives.

Our Curriculum: About Us

Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) /
Birth to 5 Matters.

Our planning is fluid and changes according to the needs and wants of our children, in that we undertake long term planning of themes/topics that we may cover, but these can change. We design our curricular activities around the needs of our children.

We also schedule several visits, visitors and outings as part of our annual planning, in order to enhance the children's learning and to develop their life experiences. Recently, we have had visits from the Police, Fire Service and Specsavers. Parents and other family members are invited to be a 'mystery reader' to the children, with visits often scheduled during most weeks of each term.

Ofsted's 3 I's are embedded throughout our curriculum:

Intent is about our staff knowing what we want our children to learn.

Implementation is about staff knowing how we want to deliver that learning.

Impact defines what our children have achieved and measures

how effective this has been.

Age Ranges (2_edited.jpg

Practitioners observe a child's development and learning, and produce three reports over the course of the academic year (November, March and June). They identify a 'range' that most closely describes their current progress.

A series of ‘ranges’ (from 1-6) cover typical progression in development and learning from 0-5 years, rather than specific age ranges.

The image shown links the ranges to typical age spans.
